Chinalco Zheng Research Institute reached a cooperation with Romania on the aluminothermic magnesium smelting technology

A few days ago, Chinalco Zhengzhou Nonferrous Metal Research Institute Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Chinalco Zhengzhou Research Institute) signed a magnesium ore magnesium smelting process test agreement with relevant Romanian enterprises, aiming to use the new technology of aluminothermic magnesium smelting to provide relevant Romanian enterprises. The brucite samples were evaluated by the new method of magnesium smelting laboratory test. Up to now, the test has been successfully completed. The test results prove that the performance of the ore meets the requirements of aluminothermic magnesium smelting, and a research report on the technical performance of magnesium ore has been issued in accordance with Romanian requirements.

The Romanian side is very satisfied with the effect of this technology and is also very satisfied with this test and report. The two parties will continue to carry out the industrialization test of Romania's new magnesium smelting method. If the test is successful, the two parties will reach further cooperation on the establishment of a new magnesium smelting technology in Romania.

Chinalco Zhengzhou Research Institute actively responds to the "Belt and Road" initiative, and is committed to using new technologies to develop markets and achieve initial results. The institute earnestly implements the "five development concepts" and is committed to the development and industrialization of "green and low-carbon" magnesium smelting technology. The new technology of aluminothermic magnesium smelting has realized large-scale, efficient and continuous smelting of magnesium, and achieved green and clean production of magnesium smelting. For every 1 ton of magnesium produced by this technology, 6.2 tons of light calcium carbonate and 2 tons of aluminum-magnesium spinel can be produced at the same time. Compared with the current Pidgeon method, the production land is reduced by about 50%, and the total amount of raw materials is reduced by about 52%. %, the energy consumption is reduced by about 54%, the CO2 emission reduction is about 42%, the comprehensive cost is reduced by more than 30%, and there is no waste water, waste gas and waste residue in the magnesium reduction process. The overall technology of the new magnesium smelting has reached the international leading level, and has been recognized by the domestic magnesium smelting industry and even the international magnesium smelting industry.
